I'm looking forward to the seven library talks in East Anglia in April - the first one is now only 4 weeks away!  Have just heard that BBC Radio Suffolk want to do an interview about the talks. I think it will go out on air on 11th April. Will confirm when I know more.

Talliston writing circle

Yesterday evening I had the great pleasure of being asked to talk to about a dozen or so writers in Great Dunmow in Essex who have formed a writing circle which meets every month in an amazing house called Talliston.

I thoroughly enjoyed the evening - it was great to have the opportunity to meet such a friendly and enthusiastic group of writers - in the most amazing creative setting.

Many thank to John and the group for their hospitality.

I won't even try to describe the house but if you are interested why don't you check out Talliston on their impressive website.

Large Print and Italian rights

Posted by ianmcfadyen on February 8, 2014 at 6:50 AM Comments comments (0)

Since my last post I've received confirmation regarding rights sold on three of my titles.

Lillia's Diary is now available in large print and in April of this year Frozen to Death also comes out in large print. Then in June 2014 Deadly Secrets will hopefully come out in LP too, which will complete the set for all four of my titles to date.

Even better I now have confirmation of the first foreign rights for my books. These are for Frozen to Death and Deadly Secrets which are being translated into Italian. I believe that Deadly Secrets is due to be published in Italy in April 2014 - am not sure of the date for Frozen to Death, but should be late 2014 or early 2015. I'm told murder mysteries are very popular in Italy so I hope the good people of Italy take to Carmichael, his team and the not so sleepy village of Moulton Bank!

Lancashire Library Talks

I can't believe its over  9 months since I last updated my blog - I must try to do it more frequently.

In my defence, I have been busy.

Deadly Secrets was released at the end of April, to coincide with the London Book Fair . I have not yet received any figures through on sales, but it seems to be doing well.

Last week I went up to Lancashire and visited 14 libraries to talk about my writing. We had a couple of events that weren't too well attended, but in the main I was really happy with how they all went. There's clearly a healthy number of people in Lancashire who like murder mystery books. Have posted some photos that were taken during the week.

To promote the 'tour' we managed to get a fair amount of press coverage including an interview on BBC Radio Lancashire, which I enjoyed doing.

Am writing another book too - about 2/3rds of the way through. This one is not a Carmichael book as I thought I'd try something different.

As I said earlier, I must try and post  updates more frequently!

Christmas Book Signings

Posted by ianmcfadyen on December 17, 2012 at 12:50 AM Comments comments (0)

I decided to try and get in some book signings, in the hope people would think a signed book made a good present. Unfortuneately, I was mistaken. People were all a bit stressed, and not too keen to spend the time of day chatting to me. Everyone wanted cheap presents for secret santa's, or a specific book off someones xmas list.

I'm going to save the book signings for summer from now on, although come April I'll have a new book to promote!

Book Covers

Today I got the design for the cover of Deadly Secrets, and it's fantastic. It will look great on the shelf with the other paperbacks, and the cover is even more striking than Frozen to Death. Cannot wait to get my copies!

Graduations

Yesterday, my son, Jamie, graduated from Lincoln University with a BA in Criminology. The ceremony took place in Lincoln Cathdral, with a drinks reception afterwards in Lincoln Castle. It was a wonderful day, and I was very proud to see Jamie collect his certificate, and even managed to buy a DVD of the ceremony!

In a month I then have my eldest daughter, Emma's, graduation. She finished her time at Anglia Ruskin University with a BSc in Zoology, and hopefully there will be a glorious weather as yesterday so we can have some more photos!

In between being a proud parent, I've almost finished writing my fifth book. Hopefully I'll have it finished for the end of the month, then there will be the long task of proof reading to commence.

The 5 people you meet in heaven.

It's not often I get the time to actually sit down and read a book, but after my daughter thrust this short novel into my hands, I decided to give it a try. I was really impressed and have left a review on goodreads if anyone is interested.

Now, what to read next?
